What Is NordVPN?
NordVPN operates 9,000+ servers across 181+ locations and works with Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and more. It has a strict no-logs policy backed by multiple independent audits and is based in privacy-friendly Panama. NordVPN is the most popular VPN option with customers, according to our market research.
VPN Speed: Evaluation Guide
We have not conducted an independently documented VPN speed benchmark — Actual VPN speeds vary by device, server distance, network load and protocol; test performance on your own connection.
Before subscribing, test your own video calls, uploads and remote-work apps on the devices and networks you use.
| Server Distance | Independent Benchmark |
|---|---|
| Local/nearby server | Not independently measured |
| Distant server | Not independently measured |
| Double VPN | Not independently measured |
💡 HereFlowAI Tip: Choose the NordLynx protocol in settings for the fastest speeds and lowest latency.
Security & Privacy Features
NordVPN’s no-logs policy has been audited and verified by routine independent audits from Deloitte on five consecutive occasions. It uses AES-256-GCM cipher with HMAC SHA256 hash authentication, plus post-quantum encryption to protect against future threats.
Key security features:
- ✅ AES-256 encryption (industry standard)
- ✅ RAM-only servers — no data stored after each session
- ✅ Kill switch — blocks all internet traffic if the connection drops unexpectedly
- ✅ Threat Protection Pro — blocks malware and ads automatically
- ✅ Double VPN for extra-sensitive work
- ✅ Dark web monitoring — alerts if your accounts appear in breaches

Is NordVPN Good for Remote Workers?
Yes, NordVPN is a good VPN if you want fast performance, simple apps, and reliable results — it worked with major streaming platforms, stayed stable on several devices, and was easy to set up on Windows, mobile, macOS, and smart TV apps.
For freelancers specifically, its audited no-logs policy and Panama location support strong privacy for client work.
Best for remote workers who need:
- Stable connections for video calls and large file transfers
- Strong encryption for client confidentiality
- Multi-device coverage (laptop, phone, tablet)
- Fast servers for international research
Our Verdict — Is NordVPN Worth It in 2026?
It’s not flawless — the renewal pricing still stings — but the combination of NordLynx speeds, Threat Protection Pro, and a strong audit trail is hard to beat.
NordVPN is worth the asking price and is one of the least expensive premium VPNs in 2026 — even at the renewal price, it’s still cheaper than ExpressVPN’s renewal, with a broader feature set.
For freelancers and remote workers handling sensitive client data, NordVPN delivers the speed, security, and reliability that make the price worth paying.
